- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)fine cloving then. It was then hackled "taistil". The hackle was a board with nails on it. It was then combed and rolled up in a distaff "cuigéall". Then it was ready to be put on the flax wheel for spinning. When spun it was wound up in a hand reel. Then it was taken off in sheins, steeped, boiled, washed and put out to bleach with a stick at both ends. When dry it was wound up in balls and warped. The warping was done by winding it round pegs in in the wall. It was then sent to the weaver who wove it into linen on the loom. He wove the fine flax into what was called bandle cloth and he wove the rough flax into s sheeting "léine anairt"
