    this was the day for the bold mother's son. When the battle was over there was no man alive but himself and the officer. He saw one of the enemies going for the officer to kill him and he shot him down. When the officer saw what he had done he said to him "Shea I will remember you"
    Next day the officer was shot so when Shea was to be discharged from the army they were looking up his records which were very bad. They found one mark for saving the life of the officer. That covered all and they awarded him a pension of ten shillings a week for life.
