1. Ardcrone Church

   Ardcrone Church is now a ruin, the ground, around it, is used as a burial ground. There is a very rich field outside the ruin, called the Glebe.

   Ardcrone is situated on a hill near the River Maine. This church must have been built in Saint Carthage's time, because there was another monastery at Killtallagh, and the monks were constantly making a journey frpm one monastery to another.

   As the roads were scarce, the monks made their journey along by the river bank.

   The most of the monasteries were situated alongside the banks of the river.

   Owing to the Church forbidding the use of flesh meat on certain days, fish became a necessity, and fishing became an essential occupation of the monks.

   The monks used chant the Rosary on the hill every day
