    I am going to tell you of an incident which I hear my father relate ..

    I am going to tell you of an incident which I hear my father relate the other night.
    It was about an old man named "James Faddley" that used to go about the country with a donkey and cart selling religious articles.
    He was of peculiar nature and had certain houses which he would call in and have a bit to eat.
    The dogs would tackle him when he would go to the houses and so he had a loaded butt and would almost kill any dog that would tackle him.
    At all events he called to this certain house one day and told the woman of the house to make him a saucepan of oaten-meal gruel as no other woman could make it to his liking as well as she could and he wanted it cooked for three hours.
    Then he went away to the other houses to sell his prayer books and other things and
