   Next morning when he remembered what had happened he decided to go and see if the cards were still there. When he reached the spot he searched every place but not a trace of a card was to be seen. He believed that it was a warning to stop gambling and from that day to this he never took a card in his hand.

   About a hundred years ago a man named Luail Luinn lived at Mullaloughan near Glaslough. He was a great card-player and spent every night at this pastime. He was well to - do and rode on horseback. He wore breeches and long stockings and shoes with buckles on them. One night he was returning home in high spirits as he had been lucky and had won some money.
