another man for a small sum of money.
The farmers suffered greatly under this system of landlords and were always discontented and unhappy. Often there was a great deal of agitation in which the farmers were determined to stamp out the rule of landlords. The English parliament had a great many debates which finally resulted in victory for the farmers, and what they had long fought for was at last theirs.
The English Government advanced a great sum of money and paid the Irish landlords for all the lands in their possession. The result was a great reduction in the rent and better terms for farmers who now pay their rent to the Irish Land Commission.
