- My father used to play a game called teetotum. You would get an old finished spool and pare four sides on it and make a point on the underpart. Then you would get a small stick about an inch long and you would pare it to fit into the whole that was through the spool. Then you would put N, T, A, P, on it. There was a letter on every side of the spool. N, stood for none. T, stood for take. A, stood for all, and P, stood for put. You would get a number of dead matches and everyone would have and even number of them. There is always a match left in the middle. Then you spin the top, and if it lit on N. you could not take any of the matches. If it lit on T. you could only take one, but if there was only one in the middle then you could not take it. If it lit on A you could take everyone except one. But if it lit on P you(continues on next page)
