  1. Long ago people did not go for doctors because towns were too far away and the roads were bad so they had remedies for their ailments at home.
    The cure for measles was to take whiskey to bring them out all over your skin and then stay in bed and keep warm. The cure for mumps is to crawl in under a donkey. The cure for ear ache is whiskey and cotton wool.
    There is a woman lives beside Churchill who can cure warts.
    There is another woman who lives in our district can cure ring-worm. She makes a salve with Hogs' lard, quick-silver and agua fortis and mixes them altogether.
