  1. Long ago people would go to three women who were married to a man of the same names as their maiden name such as Martin to Martin. They got three things from each person and gave that to the child who had the whooping cough.
    The cure that they had for measles was to give the children nettle broth.
    The cure that they had for mumps was to put the child in under the donkey's legs three times.
    Fresh butter mixed up with sulfur was the cure for chicken pox.
    The cure for toothache was to put mustard in them.
    Paraffin oil was the cure for chilblains.
    They put olive oil in their ears for earache.
    For warts they put their hands in the blacksmith's trough.
