pay a little to the teacher on Monday morning, about three half pence each and one turf to light a fire. They used slates and slate pencils. Writing was done at that time. The children were seated on pieces of the bark of trees at that time. There were no black boards.
The teachers stayed nearly all their life time in one district. They sometimes prescribed medicine for the sick. Long ago when an episcopal church was built in the district a school was built too which was the old school at Drollagh.
