  1. There are many local beliefs with regard to the weather.
    When there is going to be rain the dampness comes up out of the cement or tiles or an earthen floor and leaves the floor very wet even if it is not very wet outside. If old persons have pains or especially rheumatism they say that there is going to be rain when they can find their pains aching. When persons find their corns aching they say there is going to be rain.
    A red sky in the morning,
    Is the shepherd's warning,
    A red sky at night,
    Is the shepherd's delight.
    When the sun rises red in the morning it is the shepherd's warning because he knows not to go far from his home because it is a sure sign of rain and if the sun goes down red in the evening it is the shepherd's delight because he knows that the next day will be fine. The old people say that when the moon is on her back there is going to be rain. When there is a "brugh" or a ring round the moon the people say there is going to be rain. When the stars are muddy or not sparkling it is a sign of rain or when the sky is full of shining stars it is a
