  1. There was a man one time and he lived in the townland of Aughnaguigan. His name was Barney Halfpenny. He lived in a house belonging to another man and the man and he quarreled. He was going to put him out of his house. So Barney wanted to get another man's house. He asked a man to write him out a reference. So the man did as Barney asked. When he went to the house he handed the owner of it his reference and the said read this, "Barney eats till he sweats, works till he cools and you will find in the end that Barney Halfpenny is more knave than fool".
