  1. (continued from previous page)
One day Séan met a man who was splitting bogdeal and had a chat with him.
The man asked Séan to take a turn at the job while he went home to take his dinner. Séan took the hatchet and when he had a large heap of chips piled up he decided he would leave.
Before going he stuck the hatchet into a large stump of bogdeal so that the owner might easily find it.
When the owner came back after his dinner he tried to draw out the hatchet - he tugged and strained every muscle but the hatchet remained where Sean had left it.
He sent for help, but even with the aid of a few other men, the hatchet could not be removed from the bogdeal.
At length, Séan himself had to be sent for to draw it out.
