- In the east of Abbey feale Parish, there is a well known as Killenagh Well. A man by bearing the name Cotter is the present owner of the farm in which the well is situated.The well was regarded as holy by the former owner of the farm, a certain O'Keefe. There is no O'Keefe in that farm now. The O'Keefe was known locally as "Dónnell gan sgát". One Sunday evening about eighty years ago, Cotter held a "christening party" at his house convenient to the well. The maids, who were in a great hurry preparing the dinner, took water from the blessed well to boil the potatoes. Hours passed by and the water was not boiling. Nicholas Cotter asked where the water was got. One maid answered that it came from the blessed well.Cotter ordered the water to be returned to the well and water from the well in use, to be put into the pot instead. The water and potatoes boiled immediately.The following morning, Cotter found six donkeys, lying flat on the ground, as if dead, a short distance from the blessed well, and fresh spring water bursting up where it had not been hitherto. Returning to the blessed well it was empty and had gone dry.The donkeys were supposed to have been employed in removing the desecrated well and to have become exhausted
