    Receiving weekly their five bob - the truth to you I'll tell
    That's Tom Roche, the hardy nipper and his neighbour old Black Pad
    Every Friday when they reach the post come home quite almost mad.

    Tom, he shouts and whistles and he says to Pad - "you Pup,"
    You'll be broken off the Pension if your mouth you don't shut up."
    "You may go to hell," black Pad replies and a sidelook throws with hate
    'Tis you, yourself, that is the pup, you fragment of '98.

    Some old men are real good sport when nearing Pension days
    Especially Bill Harnett, for he's getting young they say
    To see him tripping light and quick going through the village square
    For since he got the Pension, he can run just like a hare

    And his neighbour old Tade Daly, was another brave athlete
