  2. In Tuirín Eochaidh there lived a poet named James Kane. This man was born in Knockbrack and lived to be about seventy years. He died and was hired in Abbeyfeale. He farmed sixty acres of land but was evicted for some cause. While he lived he made songs and also had the power of sending rats from one farm to another. He competed with other poets and it is said that his curse was as bad as that of a priests.
