Jack galloped off faster than the March wind and passed out the gale which was before him, but the gale that was behind him could not over take him. When Jack drove home the cows that night there was great rejoicing at the king's palace but to find the champion who killed the monster was their only trouble. The king invited all the princes who were laying claim for the princess's hand. They all knew that the lock of hair and the piece of ear was taken from Jack's head.
