    Unexpected out of night
    Broke a vision on my sight
    Formless shapeless silent tall
    All my wits were held in thrall.
    Giant slender shrouded, slim
    - Shall I dub it her or him -
    Dumb as mummy gaunt and grim
    Gliding softly through the gloom.
    Came this gruesome hideosis gnome
    Trembling scanning the approach
    Of this demon or death-coach
    I could only stare agape
    From my post there's no escape
    To my fate I must resign
    Making oft the sacred sign
    Nothing else could I design
