  1. On Xmas day a band of boys or men catch the wren and fix it on a decorated holly bush. On the following day St Stephens day they would dress up in disguise and form a into a band with musical instruments going around from house to house, singing dancing and playing old Irish airs, the most popular song was and is The Song of the Wren.

    The King of all birds,
    On St. Stephens day he got caught
    in the furze,
    Although he is little his family
    is great,
