  1. In the penal times Mass was said in Foley's glen. Every Sunday the people gathered together, and a priest said Mass using a rock there as an altar.
    Sometimes Masses were said in farmer's houses and this custom is kept up yet.
    Many priests were beheaded while saying Mass in the Penal times.
    The English did not want the priests to say Mass as they wanted the people to be protestants.
    Mass used to be said on Cahair Domnaig in Tonevana mountain in the penal
