  1. About the year 1815 an English
    soldier stationed in Bengal dreamed
    three nights in succession about a
    treasure which was buried on a
    round hill near the river Boyle
    in a townland called Tawnytaskin
    in the Parish of Boyle Co. Roscommon.
    In his dream he saw the
    exact spot where the treasure lay, the
    faces of the three men who were
    to assist him to get it and heard
    their names. It was made known
    to him that the treasure was of gold
    buried by the Danes that it was
    guarded by an enchanted eel
    and that in order to reach it
    he would require, a rod to
    strike the eel, a coal-black cock
    and the Purificator with which
    the Priest purifies the Chalice.
    The soldier’s regiment was
    transferred to England and he
