- My father gave me the following account of the night of the big-wind which he heard from his Grandfather who lived in Corhober about one mile from Ballymote Co. Sligo. The Cora Dhunn is a sea-side place between Easkey and Aughris on Sligo coast The seaweed was blown from the Cora Dhunn twelve or fourteen miles distant to the town of Ballymote. All the stacks of oats and ricks of hay were scattered along the country side, most of the houses then build of mud were levelled to the ground, and all the stone-built houses were left without roofs on a wild and windy night about ninty-seven years ago. The rood was blown off Emlafad Church that night and was found at Keash four and a half miles distant.
