  1. In olden times when there were no toys made the children made their own toys, such as guns, tops, and other things.
Guns were made from wood which was a block. The children cut out a handle at the end of the wood about two inches thick. then they carved the top, until it became quite round, that was their way of making guns.
The old people often made toy horses for the younger children. They were made from corks and thin sticks. They first divided one of the corks into four equal parts and those are the feet. Then they put a stick into each of the feet and thus the legs are formed. Then they put a long and broad cork across the sticks it is then pierced by them thus the body is formed. Then they make the head with another cork. They last make the tail. It is made from twine lashed. It was glued to the body.
