An advice I will give before you go away.
This brave Irish hero he well knows the mountains
Since the year '64 since he first used to drill,
And some of his comrades I'm told are transported
And since he's determined on blood for to spill.
The old man departed and I went for starting.
The words he told me put me in despair.
The first jump he gave he put out my left arm,
So I got on his back and caught hold of his hair,
Well now my bold ranger on your back I am landed,
Unless I fall off you may go where you will,
He ran through the streets like something distracted
And soon made his way towards Connor-Hill.
When I came into Brandon I thought it was London.
I regretted my journey when I saw the sea.
He jumped on the water and swam right across it
Towards Castlegregory to make a near way.
The waves of the ocean put us in motion,
The fishes ate all the nails of my toes,
And a great big mackrel jumped up at my nostril,
And I thought he'd go away with a part of my nose.
When we came on the strand hastily he ran
    Towards Castlemaine he did steer.
