    a guide and horses for the journey and a noble black hound without a nib of white.
    Ossian had verry bad sight. Early one morning he set out and his guide also set out from the County Roscommon.
    He told the guide to lead him to the Valley of the Black Pig among the Ox Mountains, that is the country from Lough Easkey to Beal an Easa. It was then known as the Valley of the Black Pig but is now call Masshill.
    They went through the valley as far as Carraig an Eanaigh a large rock just above Gleann Wood. He asked the guide to lift the rock but he was not able. Ossian then took up the rock and underneath was a whistle which he blew.
    Out of the wood came dozens of large black-birds,one far bigger than the rest. The
