  1. My father told me once about a house that was situated near our home. It was a noted gambling place and gamblers often remained after mid-night engaged in card-playing. It was after 12 pm one night when the door opened and a tall handsome man entered. He appeared courteous and in a friendly mood. After a time he suggested playing a game of cards. The play seemed to favour him from the start. It happened anyway that one player dropped a card and on stooping to lift it observed the stragner had a cloven foot when he lifted his head however the man had vanished.
    My mother also told me a story which is believed to be true as it happened also in this district some years ago. It is as follows. A Stupid and lonely looking man once worked with my grandfather. My grand-father one day asked him what was troubling him He replied by saying he once took part in a murder and that his conscience
