  1. Some people in this district they take great care in picking the potatoes for seed. Some of them keep them from the time they are digging them. They do not keep them too small or too big but they keep fairly-sized ones and keep the nice shaped ones also. They take great notice of the eyes to see how many are on the potatoes. They do not like they eyes to be near one another because there would be too many stalks when the potatoes would grow.
    They get the nice round potatoes for splitting because they are the best. They split the potatoes near they eye. Some of the farmers get boxes to sprout them but very often they put them into bags. They do not leave them too long in the boxes or in the bags afraid they would get too dry. Some of the people put them into the boxes early in Winter but others do not box them until early Spring. The potatoes that are put into the boxes in Winter will have long buds and they will grow very fast but it will take the others a long time to grow because the buds will be very short.
    When cutting seed it is very bad to cut them too near the eye because they
