- There are three blessed wells in the parish of Templeboy. There is one in Aughris in Jimmy Jordan's field near the Córa Donn near the seashore. There is another in Owen Dunne's field in Ballygrehan. There is another on top of Ballykilcash.People visit St Charles's well in Ballyrehan when they have sore feet. No one visits Aughris but a lot go to St Farnan's on the 15th August and there is no special day for St Charle's either.Tobar na n-Giolla or Tubberunane well is about a mile and a half from here. It is in Skreen on the low road towards Sligo. People came to Tobar nar nGiolla long ago to cure sick delicate children. It was said they used to bathe the children in the well and if they were going to get better they would get better then but if they did not get better they would die when put in the well. A man from Leyny put a child in the well about a hundred years ago and the child died that evening and that was the last child that was put in the well. The child was put overboard in a neighbouring house and the man carried him home across the mountain.A boy named Jervis Furey found an ancient stone axe in the well about ten years ago when he was cleaning it.There are stone altars at Dromard and(continues on next page)
