  1. The name of my townland is Trippol, which indeed sounds queer to strangers. It got its name from a cluster of small houses none but one of which stands today. We do not know what was their object in building these little houses so close together. One cluster in a farmer's year was called "Hell Street". There was one old man called "Daingean". He was so called because he came from Dingle. He could not speak one word of English. The school children used to pay him a visit to and from their journey to school and used enjoy him very much. The customs of some of these people were very strange. One old man used to make his morning tea the night before, so that it would be cold. There is not one to be found that would do that now-a-days. There was a creamery in the district and it was a great convenience to the people around the locality, but it is all broken down now. My district is very nicely situated. We can see the Shannon when going to school, also the ships sailing down to Limerick. There are eight farmers houses and seven cottiers in the townland of Trippoll. Leaba Diarmuida and leim na muica are not far away. There are ruins of Castles too near the place. Beal castle, Lick, and Ballybunion. There are a lot of other townlands surrounding my district. Kilconly and Lensechane in the west, Bromore and Rahavinig in the south, Craughderrig and Asdee in the east, and Gullane in the north.
