    When a bird picks the window, it is a sign of hard weather.
    When a magpie hops across the road before a newly married couple, it is a sign of misfortune and also when they meet a red-haired woman and when they see a weasel.
    When they see a black cat it is a sign of good luck.
    A sign of death was, seed not growing, cock crowing at unusual times of the night and forgetting to set a ridge of potatoes about the size of a coffin.
