    her, they would stay in the neighbours house along with her that night or that day. Then they would acquaint or tell her parents about it, and her parents would have to pay a certain amount of money to the boy that was going to marry their daughter. If the parents did not pay this tax, the boy would not marry the girl and no other boy would marry her either. This was called a run-away.
