  1. Long ago the people used to walk very long distances because there were no motors, no buses, no trains, or no bicycles.
    A man in my townland surnamed Lee walked to Longford to buy a wheel-barrow; when he had bought he thought he would buy a sack of meal; he bought the meal and put it on the wheel-barrow, and wheeled it home a distance of ten miles.
    My great grandfather drove to Bundoran to the sea on a horse and car, and had four women, along with himself and a lot of bags of provisions. He started early in the morning and was there at night.
