   One Sunday there were sports near by this blind man was going to jump at the sports. The jump was to cross an old river. There was a man to tell him where to start. So the blind man started and leaped the river which was 24 ft wide. The best runner was a man called Pat Tierney who could run a mile race as fast as a motor-car can go nowadays.

   The very first that comes to my mind is Stephen McPadden. He thought nothing of carrying a bag of meal 2 cwt weight 4 miles returning home after doing his days work. He lived far up in the townland of Croagh in Killavogey. He was nicknamed Stephen from Heaven on accont of his being so far up in the mountain. The next is a man called Soldier McConnell. He bought a
