- There are two tailors in this district, Thomas Keavney of Tullycooley, John Cosgrove of Ballinagar who work in their own homes. They don't stock cloth. There is no cloth spun or woven locallly. Wool and cotton or a mixture of both are the principal materials used in the manufacture of cloth at the present time. There is a tradition which that if a tailor when making a suit for a makes a mistake in either cutting or sewing the cloth that boy will be married in that suit of clothes. The same applied to a girl when getting a suit made. The principal gear used by a tailor are thimble, needle, lapboard and smoothing iron. Shirts are made in the homes and the cloth used is mainly linnin and cotton. There are very little shirts made locally from home-grown flax. Socks and stockings are made locally from thread spun in the homes. There are about 1/2 dozen spinning wheels in(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
