of our Lord. There are stations of the Cross beside this Holy Well also, for doing the Stations of the Cross. It is said that this well was closed up and soon after a fever from which a lot of people died was raging in the town of Sligo. As soon as this well was opened again the fever stop(p)ed. The water of this well was never used for domestic use. It is generally the custom for people who go to this well on Garland Sunday to bring a bottle of this water witht hem. The(y) use it as a cure for any ailment they have. Long ago it is said that a man went to the well with a sore foot and that the rubbed the waters several times to the sore and that it got all right.
It is said that there was a man fishing long ago in a little stream which flows from the Holy Well of Tubbernault. In this stream he found a fish. He brought home the fish and put him on the pan. When he was half rosted he jumped off the pan and made his way back to the stream again. Ever since one side of the fish is burned. All the people who go to this well to get cured can not obtain the cure unless the(y) see this fish. If they do they are cured immediately.
