  1. There are two forges in the parish. The names of the smiths are Jack O Connell and Frank McLoughin The forges are situated in Castle Street Manorhamilton There is two bellows (in it) and a iron roof on it. The smith uses hammers tongs iron and many other things He shoes horses and asses. All the work of the forge is done in doors. The smith has powerful sinewy[?] arms an account of the way he has to swing the heavy sledge. They repair machineary and all farm implements.
