When she fell over Flanagans brogues,
And spilled a whole tea-pot of tea.
She cried out Flanagan your not eating,
Ah do try a bit more for my sake,
Ah no Miss Smyth thank you
But I like the receipt of that cake.
    IV
    Chorus
There were prunes and plums and cherries,
    Nutmeg, cloves and berries
And the crust it was nailed on with glue,
There was caraways in abundance too.
It would build up a great stomach-ache,
It would kill a man twice,
    After eating a slice,
    Of Pat Gilmore's beautiful cake.
    V

But really it was no use,
She worked at it over an hour
But still could get none of it loose.
Culnane ran out for the hatchet
Gunning came in with the saw,
"That cake was enough by the powers
    To paralyse any man's jaw.
