  1. On St. Stephen's Day it is a custom for all the young boys to catch a wren and kill. They go from house playing and dancing for money. At each house they say:- "Up with the kettle and down with the pan, give us a penny to bury the wren". St. Stephen's Day is called "the Wren Boys Day".
