   coins came out. He lifted the stone and there was a larger pan of gold under it. He lifted the pan and brought it home. Then he told his friends what he had got. He went to bed very happy but when he got up next morning the gold was gone. His friends had stolen the gold and had left the shoemaker poor.

   There was once a man and he intended to go to the fair. He got up very early in the morning and he got ready. He went very well until he reached the place where the fair was to be held. When he came to the square he saw a large crowd of fairies playing cards and a stack of gold in the middle of them and he began to play with them. The fairies of course were magic players and the won all the man's money. After a while it began breaking day and the fairies went away and left all the
