  2. The people used to have a great many customs long ago, on May-day. They used not put down a fire until they would see smoke out of another ones chimney and they would not put out the ashes on that day either. Another custom they used to have on May-day also, is that they would not give out milk to anyone. The people have not any of those customs now.
