    To hear those warbling songsters their cheerful notes they sweetly tuned,
    I overheard a female talking seemingly to be in grief and woe
    Conversating with young Bonapartie concerning the bonny bunch of roses oh:
    The first time I saw young Bonapaptie down on his bended knees fell he,
    He asked the pardon of his father which was granted most mournfully
    Dear son he said I will take an army and over the frozen Alps I'll go:
    I will conquer Moscow and return with the bonny bunch of roses oh.
    He took five hundred thousand men, with kings likewise his throne to bare
    He was so well provided you would think he'd sweep this world alone.
    But when he came to Moscow he was overpowered by the driving snow,
