    Clever Paddy.
    One time there were two brothers named Micky and Paddy. They were always wanting to go Scotland but they could not get their work finished in time. The other neighbours were always telling them about bugs in the lodging house. One year they worked very hard and got the work finished and went to Derry and they went to Scotland. When they arrived there they did not know where to go. They came to a great big jewellry shop and there were a lot of people in it buying watches and things. Says Paddy, "I'll go in here to see what is going on" and in he went. He was walking and pushing through the crowd and he was tramping on their toes. The shopkeeper was very displeased. He called him over and he knew he was an Irishman he asked him "How was jackasses selling in Ireland" thinking to insult him. Paddy answered "They are different prices, some ten shillings and some fifteen and you would pay thirty for a big one like you."
    He went out then to his brother and they went to a guard and asked him where a lodging house was. He showed them and they went in and asked for lodgings. The got lodgings and had two sticks to kill
