    A poisonous fog came in the evening when the tops of the potatoes were green and in the morning they were quiet black with the blight. The potatoes did not grow atall because the blight had a good hold of them. My grandfather knew two men who dug for a fortnight and only got the full of a chest. The people kept a few potatoes for the following year. The people the potatoes in ridges. Any person who would afford to buy oaten meal had to pay five shillings for ten pounds. The government did give some relief. Daniel O'Donnell was the man that brought relief to this country. The people died in great numbers. Then the fever followed the hunger. The old people tell about other periods of famines which they heard
