  1. The bread the people ate in olden times was potatoe fadge oaten bread wheaten bread and boscty bread. The way the oaten bread was made the oaten meal is wet with boiling water. Some salt is put into it then it is put along the fire to harden. It is put on a wire a bread iron. It is made of wire and tin is put at the corners to keep it together.
    Fadge. It is made of potatoes. The way it is made the potatoes are pounded and salt is put on them. Then they are put on the fire.
    Boscty bread. It was made of potatoes. The potatoes were picked and then grated into something. Then warm water is put on them and are left to stew. Then they were strained and some flour is mixed with them. Then they were put on the fire to harden. Some people had quains for grinding oat. They would grind the oats into meal with quains Any body who hadnt quains got
