  1. In former times the people made candles from tallow and the inside of rushes. Tallow was the fat of a pig.
    The people used to dye with log wood. Nobody dyes with it now. The log wood was little pieces of wood(coill) boiled. When the juice came out of it, it was called dye.
    Long ago the people made their own starch from potatoes.
    In former times the people used to thatch with rushes, straw and hay.
