    Welcome him, welcome him, forth from his prison,
    Welcome him forth from his dark dungeon cell,
    Flare forth the beacon where it oft hath arisen,
    He cometh once more with his children to dwell.
    Ring out the bells from each tower or steeple,
    Flourish the trumpets and roll loud the drums,
    The foe of the tyrant, the friend of the people,
    Forth from his prison in triumph he comes.

    Thus let him know that his country rejoices,
