    zephers that played,
    But a wild wayward fate has unfeelingly sundered.
    My soul from the scenes where it fain would have stayed.
    Yet it is not the parting from lake, stream, or ocean
    That tortures the heart of my bosom within
    Tis the absence of him which I loved with devotion,
    The noblest, the best, on the banks of the Finn.
    His brow was as fair as the Scrug's purest marble.
    His bright eyes still flashed with the lightening of love.
    His voice was more sweet than the nightingales warble,
    And gentle his heart as the heart of a dove,
    When the rays of the young moon came mistily stealing,
    And silvered the dew drop that hung from the whin,
    The tale of his love he was surely revealing,
