  1. (continued from previous page)
    In childhood's happy home.
    Hushed is the violen's sweet sound,
    All hushed the dancers' feet,
    Save when some unforgetting friends,
    In glad re-union meet:
    Again the dear old walls resound,
    'Till daylights dawn has come,
    And then we part, with heavy hearts,
    From childhood's happy home.
    I murmur not at Fate's decree,
    Nor seek her course to bend,
    For friends more dear surround me here,
    And every wish attend;
    Yet oftentimes shall I return,
    Thro; field and wood to roam,
    And tread again the leafy lanes,
    'Round childhood's happy home.
