  1. Another Story of Penal Times
Near Cavan there is a rock at which mass was said in Penal times.
Once when a priest was saying Mass there, the English captured him.
They placed him in a barrel and placed a lid on it.
They drove long nails into the barrel.
The barrel was then taken to the top of a height and was rolled down.
The nails penetrated the priests body and in this way he was done to death.
The rock is known to this day as the "Priest's Rock"

The soldiers surrounded the place and there was no chance of escape.
The mass-server was a brave and clever youth and he resolved to save the priests life.
He quickly donned the priests vestments.
The soldiers mistook him for the priest and shot him.
