All the clothes were not dyed, for instance the socks and the shirts for the old men were not dyed. The shirts for the old men were made of a very fine shiny linen in the front and of a coarser linen at the back. Socks and shirts for working men were all dyed and also frocks and pinafores for the children.

    Candle-making
The light for all homes long ago was supplied by candles made at home. A rough thick frame was made of three string twigs having suspended strings of cloth twisted to the thickness of tape. The whole frame was dipped into pots of tallow fat and then allowed to dry. They were dipped again and again until the candles were the required thickness.
